Hi, I’m Patrick Barone of the Barone Defense Firm located in Birmingham Michigan.  Drunk driving is all we do.  I’m here to talk to you about the new sobriety court law.  Alright?  This is the law that goes into effect in January 1st, 2011.  If you are a repeat drunk driver in Michigan, this is a great law for you.  It may not apply, so you may have to get on the phone or contact us on the Internet to find out if the facts and circumstances of your case and the court you’re in make you eligible for this sobriety court.

Let’s start on how it’s going to benefit you.  Right now if you get convicted and you’re not in a sobriety court and you have a prior offense, you’re going to lose your license.  It’s going to be revoked.  It’s gone.  No driving at all for at least 1 year.  None.  No way to get driving privileges.  With the sobriety court law, after 45 days if you’re in sobriety court and the Judge signs off on you, you can start driving with an ignition interlock device on your car.  After 45 days, so that whole one year thing is gone.

In Michigan, if you qualify for this sobriety court law and if you’re in a court that has a sobriety court, not all of them do.  If you want to know if it applies to your situation, give us a call.  We have a free consultation and we will advise you as of what to expect.  We will tell you what we can do to win your case.  If we can’t win it, you get convicted and you are in a sobriety court, we can keep you on the road.  Give us a call.  Contact us.  Go to drunkdrivinginmichigan.com for professional legal assistance.  Contact us there.  We look forward in talking to you.
